Spare Tire – If Equipped
NOTE:
For vehicles equipped with a tire sealant kit instead of a spare tire.
For towing restrictions with a spare tire intended for temporary emergency use.
Spare Tire Matching Original Tire and Wheel – If Equipped
Your vehicle may be equipped with a spare tire and wheel that is equivalent in appearance and function to the original tire and wheel on the front or rear axle of your vehicle. This spare tire can be used when rotating the tires of your vehicle. If your vehicle is equipped with this option, refer to an authorized tire dealer for the recommended tire rotation pattern.
Compact Spare Tire – If Equipped
The compact spare tire is intended for temporary use in emergencies only. You can determine if your vehicle is equipped with a compact spare tire by checking the spare tire description on the tire and loading information label located on the driver's door opening or on the tire sidewall. Compact spare tire descriptions begin with the letter "T" or "S" before the size designation. Example: T145/80D18 103M.
T, S = temporary spare tire
Since this tire has a limited service life, the original equipment tire should be repaired (or replaced) and reinstalled on your vehicle as soon as possible.
Do not install a wheel cover and do not attempt to install a conventional tire on the compact spare wheel, as the wheel is designed specifically for the compact spare tire. Do not install more than one compact spare tire and wheel on the vehicle at any one time.
Collapsible Spare Tire – If Equipped
The collapsible spare tire is intended for temporary use in emergencies only. You can determine if your vehicle is equipped with a collapsible spare tire by checking the spare tire description on the tire and loading information label located on the driver's door opening or on the tire sidewall.
Example of collapsible spare tire description: 165/80-17 101P.
Since this tire has a limited service life, the original equipment tire should be repaired (or replaced) and reinstalled on your vehicle as soon as possible.
Inflate the collapsible tire only after the wheel is correctly installed on the vehicle. Before lowering the vehicle, inflate the collapsible tire using an electric air pump.
Do not install a wheel cover and do not attempt to install a conventional tire on the collapsible spare wheel, as the wheel is designed specifically for the collapsible spare tire.
Full-Size Spare Tire – If Equipped
The full-size spare tire is intended for temporary use in emergencies only. This tire may look like the original tire on the front or rear axle of your vehicle, but it is not. This spare tire may have a limited tread life. When the tread wears down to the tread wear indicators, the full-size temporary use spare tire must be replaced. Since it is not the same as your original equipment tire, repair (or replace) the original equipment tire and reinstall it on the vehicle as soon as possible.
Limited-Use Spare Tire – If Equipped
The limited-use spare tire is intended for temporary use in emergencies only. This tire is identified by a label located on the limited-use spare wheel. This label contains driving restrictions for this part. This tire may look like the original tire on the front or rear axle of your vehicle, but it is not. Installing this limited-use spare tire affects vehicle handling. Since it is not the same as your original equipment tire, repair (or replace) the original equipment tire and reinstall it on the vehicle as soon as possible.
