Instructions for using seat belts
Use of seat belts is also necessary for pregnant women: for them and the unborn child, the risk of injury in an impact is considerably lower if they wear seat belts. Pregnant women must position the lower part of the belt very low, so that it passes over the pelvis and under the belly (as shown in fig. 64). As the pregnancy progresses, the driver must adjust the seat and steering wheel so as to maintain full control of the vehicle (the pedals and steering wheel must be easily accessible). It is nevertheless necessary to keep as much distance as possible between the belly and the steering wheel.

The seat belt webbing must not be twisted. The upper part must pass over the shoulder and cross the chest diagonally. The lower part must fit snugly over the pelvis (as shown in fig. 65) and not over the occupant's abdomen. Do not use devices (clips, clamps, etc.) that keep the seat belts from fitting snugly against the occupants' bodies.

Each seat belt must be used by one person only: do not carry children on the occupants' laps using the seat belts to restrain both (fig. 66). In general, do not fasten any object to a person.
