Scheduled maintenance
Proper maintenance is essential to keep the vehicle in optimal condition for a long life. For this reason Fiat has defined a series of checks and maintenance operations at predetermined mileage intervals and, where applicable, time intervals, as described in the Scheduled Maintenance Plan.
Before each service, always refer to the Scheduled Maintenance Plan (e.g. periodically check the fluid levels, tyre pressures, etc.).
Scheduled maintenance is carried out by the Fiat Service Network at set intervals. If, during any service, further replacements or repairs prove necessary in addition to the planned operations, they will be carried out only with your explicit agreement. If you frequently use the vehicle to tow trailers, reduce the interval between scheduled services.
WARNING Scheduled services are specified by the Manufacturer. Failure to carry them out may void the warranty. Report any minor malfunctions to the Fiat Service Network without waiting for the next scheduled service.
Periodic checks
Every 1,000 km or before long trips, check and top up if necessary: engine coolant level; brake fluid level; windscreen washer fluid level; tyre pressure and condition; lighting system operation (headlights, turn signals, hazard warning lights, etc.); wiper and washer system operation and position/wear of the windscreen and rear window wiper blades.
Every 3,000 km, check and top up if necessary: engine oil level.
For vehicles with 0.9 TwinAir engine: every 3,000 km check and top up the engine oil to the maximum level if necessary.
Severe operating conditions
If the vehicle is used under any of the following conditions: towing a trailer or caravan; dusty roads; short (less than 7-8 km) repeated trips with outside temperatures below zero; frequent engine idling or long driving at low speed, or long periods of inactivity, the following checks must be carried out more frequently than indicated in the Scheduled Maintenance Plan:
- check the condition and wear of the front disc brake pads;
- check the cleanliness of the side locks and the bonnet and boot locks; clean and lubricate the linkages;
- visually inspect the condition of: the engine, gearbox, transmission, rigid and flexible sections of the pipes (exhaust/fuel supply/brakes), rubber parts (boots/sleeves/bushes etc.);
- check the state of charge and electrolyte level of the battery;
- visually inspect the condition of the accessory drive belts;
- check and, if necessary, replace the engine oil and oil filter / pollen filter / air filter.
