The GSI (Gear Shift Indicator) system uses the corresponding indication in the instrument cluster to suggest to the driver when to change gear. With the GSI system, the driver is informed when changing gear at that moment would save fuel.

"SHIFT UP" icon (SHIFT): GSI
suggests shifting to a higher gear. "SHIFT DOWN" icon (SHIFT): GSI
suggests shifting to a lower gear.

The icon will remain displayed until the driver changes gear or until driving conditions return to those where a gear change is no longer needed to optimise fuel consumption.
