      Use common equipment: dial indicator
    • Zero the dial indicator on the cylinder block deck surface.
  3. NOTICE: Rotate the crankshaft clockwise only.

NOTICE: The piston must remain at TDC, otherwise the readings will be inconsistent.

    • Position the dial indicator and the commercially available bridge over the piston.
      Use common equipment: dial indicator
    • Rotate the crankshaft until the piston is at TDC.
      Use common equipment: dial indicator
    • Record the reading.
    • Move the dial indicator and the commercially available deck bridge to the opposite position on the cylinder block deck surface.
