Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor™

Your vehicle is equipped with an intelligent oil life monitor, which determines when to change the engine oil based on how your vehicle is operated. By using several important factors in its calculations, the monitor helps reduce the cost of vehicle ownership while also reducing environmental waste.

This means you do not need to remember to change the oil according to a mileage-based schedule. Your vehicle informs you when an oil change is needed by displaying a message on the information display.

The following table shows examples of vehicle use and its effect on oil change intervals. This is a recommendation only. Actual oil change intervals depend on several factors and generally decrease as the severity of use increases.

1 Hybrid vehicles may achieve longer intervals between oil changes, but do not exceed the maximum oil change interval of 1 year. Access the remaining oil life through the information display. See Information Displays.

Normal Maintenance Intervals

1 Do not exceed one year or 12,500 miles (20,000 km) between service intervals.

2 Reset the intelligent oil life monitor after changing the engine oil and filter. See Engine Oil Check.

1 Perform this maintenance item every 3 years. Do not exceed the specified time for the interval.

2 Brake fluid service requires special equipment available at an authorized dealer.

1 Perform these maintenance items within 3,000 miles (4,800 km) of the last engine oil and filter change. Do not exceed the specified distance for the interval.

2 Initial replacement at 10 years or 200,000 miles (322,000 km), then every five years or 100,000 miles (160,000 km).

3 After the initial inspection, check every second oil change until replacement.

4 If not replaced within the last 100,000 miles (160,000 km) of mileage.
