Pre-Collision Assist
Using the Collision Assistance System
The system is active at speeds above approximately 5 km/h and when pedestrians are present. Detection is active at speeds up to 50 mph (80 km/h).

If your vehicle is rapidly approaching another stationary vehicle, a vehicle traveling in the same direction as you, or a pedestrian in your path, the system is designed to provide three levels of functionality:
- Alarm
- Brake Support
- Active Braking

Alert: When activated, a flashing visual warning appears and an audible warning tone sounds.
Brake Support: The system is designed to reduce impact speed by preparing the brakes for hard braking. Brake Support does not apply the brakes automatically. If you press the brake pedal, the system may apply additional braking up to maximum braking force, even if you press the brake pedal lightly.
Active Braking: Active Braking may activate if the system determines that a collision is unavoidable. The system may help the driver reduce collision damage or avoid the collision completely.
Distance Indication and Alert (if equipped)
Distance Indication and Alert is a feature that provides the driver with a graphic indication of the time gap to other vehicles ahead traveling in the same direction. Distance Indication and Alert displays one of the graphics shown in the information display.

If the time gap to the vehicle ahead is short, a red visual indication is displayed to the driver.

Evasive Steering Assist (if equipped)
If your vehicle is rapidly approaching a stationary or moving vehicle in the same direction as your vehicle, the system is designed to help you steer around the vehicle.
The system only activates when all of the following conditions are met:
- The Pre-Collision Assist system detects the vehicle ahead and begins applying Active Braking.
- You turn the steering wheel in an attempt to steer around the vehicle.
After you turn the steering wheel, the system applies additional steering torque to help you steer around the vehicle. After you pass the vehicle, the system applies steering torque in the opposite direction to encourage you to return to your lane. The system deactivates after you have fully passed the vehicle.
Adjusting Pre-Collision Assist Settings
The following settings can be adjusted using the touchscreen. Refer to Settings.
- You can change the Alert and Distance Alert sensitivity to one of three available settings.
- You can turn Distance Indication and Alert on or off.
- If required, you can turn Active Braking on or off.
- If required, you can turn Evasive Steering Assist on or off.
Blocked Sensors

1 - Camera.
2 - Radar Sensor (if equipped).
If a message is displayed in the information display stating that radar signals or camera images are blocked. If your vehicle is equipped with a radar sensor, it is located behind the front panel in the center of the lower grille. If the sensor or camera is blocked, the Pre-Collision Assist system may not operate or its performance may be reduced. The following table lists possible causes and actions when this message is displayed.
