The IPC contains sensors, information indicators, warning indicators and an integrated LCD display designed to provide the driver with system status and to alert the driver to the occurrence of certain conditions in the vehicle.

Gauges

Sensors inform the driver of the status of systems. The systems that use sensors are as follows:

  • Engine Speed
  • Fuel Level
  • Vehicle Speed

Information and Warning Indicators

Information indicators provide the driver with information about existing conditions in the vehicle. Warning indicators inform the driver of conditions that could potentially result in injury or change vehicle performance.

All information and warning indicators are light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and are not serviced separately from the IPC.

IPC Integrated LCD Display

The IPC integrated LCD display, located in the upper center of the IPC, uses a 3-line LCD. The IPC integrated LCD display is controlled by the trip computer switch located on the multifunction switch. The IPC integrated LCD display provides the following information:

  • Odometer
  • Trip Odometer
    • DTE
    • Average Fuel Consumption
    • Average Speed
    • Instantaneous Fuel Economy
    • Outside Air Temperature
  • Engine Temperature Gauge
  • PRNDL (Automatic Transmission Only)

Network Input Messages

The Message Exchange Over Time has become the standard for sending and receiving information required for IPC operation. Most of the inputs required for IPC operation are received via the CAN network.

Hardwired Inputs

The IPC requires hardwired inputs from components that are not on the CAN bus. These components are required for certain IPC functions.

Hardwired inputs are provided by the following components:

  • Fuel Sender
  • Clutch Switch
  • Parking Brake Position Switch
  • A/C Switch (Vehicles Equipped with EMTC)
  • Accelerator Pedal
  • Brake Fluid Level Sensor
  • Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) Sensor
  • Park Detect Switch (Part of the Floor Shift Lever Assembly, Vehicles With Automatic Transmission)
  • Cruise Control Switches
  • Brake Pedal Switch
