Data recording
In general, this is technical information documenting the condition of parts, modules, systems or environmental conditions:
- Operating conditions of system components (e.g. fluid levels).
- Status messages from the vehicle and its individual components (e.g. wheel rotation speed, deceleration, lateral acceleration).
- Malfunctions and faults found in components of important systems (e.g. lights and braking system).
- Vehicle reactions in particular driving situations (e.g. airbag deployment, activation of the stability control system).
- Environmental conditions (e.g. temperature).
If certain services are used (for example repairs, assistance procedures, warranty work and quality certification), service network personnel (including the manufacturer) can read the technical data stored in the event and fault recording modules using special diagnostic equipment. Further information will be provided to you if necessary. After a malfunction has been corrected, the related data is deleted from the recording module or overwritten as required.
In some situations of vehicle use, and possibly with the help of an expert, this technical data, combined with other information (accident reports, vehicle damage, written statements, etc.), may be linked to a specific person.Additional functions agreed with the customer in the contract (for example identifying the vehicle location in emergencies) allow other specific information to be transmitted from the vehicle.
Note: do not connect wireless plug-in devices to the data transmission connector. Unauthorised third parties could access vehicle data and compromise the performance of the safety systems. Only allow authorised workshops that follow Ford maintenance and repair instructions to connect their equipment to the data transmission connector.Test yourself
