Automatic Headlamp Operation
WARNING
The automatic headlamp position of the switch does not turn on the headlamps in all low visibility conditions, for example in daytime fog.
Make sure your headlamps are always in the automatic position or on, as appropriate, in low visibility conditions. Failure to do so may result in a collision.

When the lighting control is in the automatic headlamp position, the headlamps turn on automatically in low visibility conditions or when the windshield wipers are operating.
If equipped, the following systems are also activated when the lighting control is in the automatic headlamp position and you have activated them in the information display:
- Configurable daytime running lamps.
- Automatic high beam control.
- Adaptive headlamp control.
The headlamps remain on for a set time after the ignition is switched off.
Use the information display controls to set the headlamp delay time. See Information Displays
Note: If you have activated the automatic headlamp operation function, you can only turn on the high beams if the system has already turned on the headlamps.
Headlamps Activated by Windshield Wipers
When the lighting switch is in the automatic position and the windshield wipers are activated, the exterior lamps turn on within ten seconds of the wipers starting. They turn off approximately 60 seconds after the windshield wipers stop.
This feature does not turn on the exterior lamps:
- during a single wipe;
- when the wipers are activated to clear washer fluid while cleaning the windshield;
- if the wipers are in automatic or intermittent mode.
Note: If you have activated automatic headlamps and automatic wipers, the low beams turn on automatically when the windshield wipers operate continuously.
