General information
Condensation in lamp units
The exterior lighting is fitted with vents to accommodate normal fluctuations in air pressure.
Condensation can be a natural consequence of this design. If humid air enters the lamp unit through the vents, condensation may form when the temperature is low. When normal condensation forms, a thin film of mist may appear inside the lens. This film eventually disappears and the mist is expelled through the vents during normal operation.
The mist may take up to 48 hours to disappear in dry weather.
Here are some examples of normal condensation:
- A thin film of mist (no spots, run marks or large droplets).
- A thin film of mist covers less than 50% of the lens.
Here are some examples of abnormal condensation:
- Water accumulation inside the light.
- Spots, run marks or large droplets inside the lens.
If you notice abnormal condensation, have your vehicle checked by an authorized dealer.
