Cleaning alloy wheels

~1min read

Note: Do not apply chemical cleaning agents to hot wheels and wheel covers. Note: Industrial (aggressive) cleaning products or chemical cleaning agents combined with brush agitation to remove dust and brake dirt may, over time, wear away the finish coat. Note: Do not use wheel cleaning agents containing large quantities of hydrofluoric or caustic acid, steel wool, fuel or strong household detergent. Note: If you plan to park the vehicle for an extended period after cleaning the wheels with a wheel cleaning product, drive the vehicle for a few minutes before shutting it off. This reduces the risk of corrosion on the brake discs, brake pads and linings. Note: Some automatic car washes may damage the finish of your wheels and wheel covers.

Alloy wheels and wheel covers are coated with a thin finish paint. To keep them in good condition, follow these recommendations:

  • Clean them once a week with the recommended tyre and wheel product.
  • Use a sponge to remove heavy buildup of dirt and brake dust.
  • Once cleaning is complete, rinse them thoroughly with pressurized steam or water.

We recommend using the Ford wheel cleaning product.

Be sure to read and follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Using other, non-recommended cleaning products may cause severe and permanent cosmetic damage.
