WARNINGS
- Do not overfill the fuel tank. Pressure in an overfilled tank can cause leaks, fuel spray and therefore a fire.
- The fuel system may be under pressure. If you hear a hissing sound near the fuel filler opening (Easy Fuel capless system), do not refuel until the noise has stopped. Otherwise, fuel may spray out and cause serious injury.
- Motor fuels can cause serious injury or death if misused or mishandled.
- Fuel flowing through a fuel pump nozzle can generate static electricity. This can cause a fire if you fill a fuel container that is not grounded.
- Ethanol and gasoline may contain benzene, which is a carcinogen.
- When refueling, always switch off the engine and keep sparks and open flames away from the filler neck. Never smoke or use a mobile phone while refueling. Fuel vapors are extremely dangerous under certain conditions.
Observe the following precautions when handling motor fuel:
- Always switch off your vehicle's engine before refueling.
- Motor fuels can be harmful or fatal if swallowed. Fuels such as gasoline are highly toxic and can cause death or irreversible injury if swallowed. If fuel is swallowed, call a doctor immediately, even if no symptoms are present. The toxic effects of fuel may not be apparent for several hours.
- Avoid inhaling fuel vapors. Inhaling excessive amounts of any type of fuel vapor can cause eye and respiratory tract irritation.
In severe cases, excessive or prolonged inhalation of fuel vapors can cause serious illness and irreversible injury.
Serious injury or illness may occur in sensitive individuals.
If fuel gets on your skin, wash the skin thoroughly with soap and water. Consult a doctor immediately if adverse effects occur.
