Using the Center Seating Position Tether Anchorage

1. Lower the center seat head restraint to the fully lowered position.
2. After the child restraint is properly installed, open the anchorage cover.

3. Route the top tether strap around the sides of the head restraint, then attach the top tether hook to the tether anchorage, making sure the strap is not twisted.

For some types of child restraint systems, route the strap over the head restraint, as shown in the illustration.
4. Tighten the strap following the child restraint manufacturer's instructions.
When attaching the strap to the child restraint, follow all of the manufacturer's instructions.
When using any child restraint, strictly follow all of the restraint manufacturer's instructions.
WARNING: Anchorages intended for child restraints are designed to withstand only the loads imposed by child restraints that are properly installed. Never attach adult seat belts, cargo tie-down straps, or any equipment to these anchorages, and never use them to install any equipment in the vehicle.
If the child's weight and height no longer allow the use of a child restraint, we recommend seating the child on an additional booster cushion on the rear seat and securing the child with the vehicle's lap-shoulder seat belt.
The following instructions explain how to check that the lap-shoulder belt is positioned correctly, which types of booster cushions should be used, and important precautions when transporting children in the front passenger seat.
Before driving, make sure the seatbacks are securely locked in the selected position.
Placing a child under 12 years of age in the front passenger seat may result in serious injury or death of the child in the event of front airbag deployment.
If it is necessary to transport a child in the front passenger seat, move the front seat fully rearward and properly secure the child with the seat belt, using an additional booster cushion if necessary.
If a child leans against the front door, the child may suffer serious or fatal injury when the side airbag deploys.
The occupant must sit upright, with the back firmly against the seatback.
