Airbags

Your vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which includes front airbags designed to protect the driver and front passenger from striking their head or chest against the steering wheel or instrument panel in a moderate or severe frontal collision.

Your vehicle is also equipped with side airbags that protect the upper body of the driver and front passenger in moderate to severe side impacts.

Your vehicle is also equipped with curtain airbags that protect the heads of the driver, front passenger, and passengers in the outboard rear seats in moderate to severe side impacts.
You should know the following most important information about the airbags installed in your vehicle:
• Airbags can never replace seat belts.
Supplemental airbags are intended only as an additional means of protection to be used together with seat belts.
• Front airbags do not provide protection in rear impacts, side impacts, or minor frontal collisions.
• Airbag deployment can cause injury.
To perform its protective function effectively, an airbag must inflate with gas at very high speed. Therefore, while the airbag protects occupants from serious injury and in some cases even saves their lives, it can cause injury, and sometimes serious injury up to and including death, if the driver or passenger is not properly restrained by the seat belt or is positioned incorrectly on the seat.
What You Should Do: Always wear your seat belt while sitting as far from the steering wheel as possible (without compromising your ability to control the vehicle). The front passenger should slide the seat as far back as possible from the instrument panel.
More detailed information on ensuring maximum safety for the driver and passengers is provided below.
However, it must be understood that no passive safety system, however advanced, can fully guarantee protection from injury or death, even when occupants wear seat belts and the airbags deploy in a timely manner.
