Removal

  1. Loosen the wheel nuts slightly. Raise the vehicle and make sure it is securely supported.
  2. Remove the front wheel and tire (A) from the front hub.

    Tightening Torque: 107.9 ~ 128 N·m

    • Be careful not to damage the hub bolts when removing the front wheel and tire (A).
  3. Loosen the mounting bolt and disconnect the brake hose from the strut assembly.

    Tightening torque: 8.8 ~ 13.7 N·m

  4. Loosen the mounting bolt and disconnect the wheel speed sensor cable from the strut assembly.

    Tightening torque: 8.8 ~ 13.7 N·m

  5. Disconnect the stabilizer link from the front strut assembly after loosening the nut (A).

    Tightening torque: 98.1 ~ 118 N·m

    • When loosening the nut (A), hold the outer hex of the stabilizer bar link. Be careful not to damage the stabilizer bar boots.
  6. Remove the upper cover (A) of the cowl. (Refer to Body - Cowl Upper Cover)
  7. Loosen the upper strut mounting nut (A).

    Tightening Torque: 53.9 ~ 64 N·m

  8. Disconnect the front strut assembly (A) from the front axle (B) by loosening the bolts and nuts.

    Tightening torque: 156.9 ~ 176 N·m N·m (16.0 ~ 18.0 kgf·m, 115.7 ~ 130.2 ft-lbf)

  9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Disassembly

  1. Using the special service tool (09546-26000), compress the coil spring (A).
  2. Using the special service tool (09546-3X100), remove the self-locking nut.
  3. Remove the insulator, strut bearing, coil spring and dust cover from the strut assembly.

Inspection

  1. Inspect the strut bearing for wear and damage.
  2. Inspect the upper and lower spring insulators for damage and wear.
  3. Compress and extend the piston rod (A) and make sure there is no abnormal resistance or unusual noise during operation.

Disposal

  1. Fully extend the piston rod.
  2. Drill a hole in the section (A) to release the gas from the cylinder.
    • The escaping gas is harmless, but be careful of chips that may fly off while drilling.
    • Always wear safety glasses or a face shield when performing this task.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  2. Compress and extend the piston rod (A) and make sure there is no abnormal resistance or unusual noise during operation.
  3. Using the special service tool (09546-3X100), install the self-locking nut.

    Tightening Torque: 58.8 ~ 69 N·m

Do not reuse the self-locking nut.
