Low Tire Pressure Warning Light and Low Tire Pressure Telltale

~2min read

When the Tire Pressure Monitoring System warning light illuminates and a warning message is displayed on the cluster LCD, one or more of your tires is significantly under-inflated. The Low Tire Pressure Telltale will indicate which tire is significantly under-inflated by illuminating the corresponding position light.

If any warning light illuminates, reduce your speed immediately, avoid sharp turns, and expect increased stopping distances. You should stop and check your tires as soon as possible. Inflate the tires to the proper pressure as indicated on the vehicle Tire and Loading Information label or the tire pressure label located on the driver's side center pillar exterior panel.

If you cannot reach a service station or if the tire cannot hold the added air, replace the low pressure tire with the spare tire.

The Low Tire Pressure Warning Light will remain, and the TPMS Malfunction Indicator may flash for one minute and then remain illuminated (when the vehicle has been driven for approximately 10 minutes at speeds above 25 km/h) until the low pressure tire is repaired or replaced on the vehicle.

Information

The spare tire is not equipped with a tire pressure sensor.

CAUTION

In winter or cold weather, the Low Tire Pressure Warning Light may illuminate if tire pressure was adjusted to the recommended tire pressure in warm weather. This does not mean your TPMS is malfunctioning, because a drop in temperature causes a proportional decrease in tire pressure.

When you drive your vehicle from a warm place to a cold place, or from a cold place to a warm place, or when outside temperature is significantly higher or lower, you should check the tire pressure and adjust the tires to the recommended tire pressure.

WARNING

Low Tire Pressure Damage

Significantly low tire pressure makes the vehicle unstable and may contribute to loss of vehicle control and increased braking distances.

Continued driving on a low pressure tire may cause the tire to overheat and fail.
