Seats and Safety System

Manual Adjustment

~2min read

The front seat can be adjusted using the levers located on the outside of the seat cushion. Before driving, adjust the seat to a proper position so that you can easily operate the steering wheel, pedals, and controls on the instrument panel.

Forward and Backward Adjustment

To move the seat forward or backward:

1. Pull up the seat slide adjustment lever and hold it.

2. Slide the seat to the desired position.

3. Release the lever and make sure the seat is locked in place. Try to move the seat forward and backward without using the lever. If the seat moves, it is not locked properly.

Seatback Angle

To recline a seatback:

1. Lean slightly forward and lift the seatback recline lever.

2. Carefully lean back against the seatback and adjust the seatback to the desired position.

3. Release the lever and make sure the seatback is locked. (The lever MUST return to its original position to lock the seatback.)

Reclining Seatback

Sitting in a reclined position while the vehicle is moving can be dangerous. Even when wearing the seat belt, your safety system (seat belts and airbags) is significantly reduced if the seatback is reclined.

WARNING

NEVER drive with the seatback reclined while the vehicle is moving.

Riding with a reclined seatback increases the chance of serious or fatal injury in a collision or sudden stop.

Drivers and passengers must ALWAYS sit upright, properly belted, with the seatback in the upright position.

Seat belts must fit snugly against the hips and chest to work properly. When the seatback is reclined, the shoulder belt cannot do its job because it will not fit snugly against the chest. Instead, it will be in front of you. During an accident, you may be thrown into the seat belt, which may cause neck or other injuries.

The further the seatback is reclined, the greater the chance that the occupant's hips will slide under the lap belt or the occupant's neck will strike the shoulder belt.

Seat Cushion Height (Driver's seat, if equipped)

To change the seat cushion height:

  • Pump the lever several times to lower the seat cushion.
  • Pull the lever up several times to raise the seat cushion.
