Check the parking brake warning light by turning the ignition switch to the ON position (do not start the engine).

This warning light comes on when the parking brake is applied with the ignition switch in the START or ON position. If the parking brake warning light stays on after the parking brake is released with the engine running, there may be a malfunction in the brake system. Immediate attention is required.

If possible, stop driving the vehicle immediately. If this is not possible, use extreme caution when operating the vehicle and continue driving only until you can reach a safe location.
