If the Engine Does Not Start

If the engine does not start or cranks slowly

• Make sure the shift lever is in N (Neutral) or P (Park). The engine can only be started when the shift lever is in N (Neutral) or P (Park).
• Check the battery connections to make sure they are clean and tight.
• Turn on the interior light. If the light dims or goes out when you crank the starter, the battery is discharged.

Do not push or tow the vehicle to start it. This may cause damage to your vehicle. Refer to the instructions for "Quick Start" provided in this chapter.

WARNING

Pushing or towing the vehicle to start it may overload the catalytic converter, which may result in damage to the emission control system.

If the engine cranks normally but does not start

• Check the fuel level and add fuel if necessary.

If the engine still does not start, have your vehicle checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
