Jack and Support Points

When heavy rear components such as the suspension, fuel tank, spare tire, tailgate, and trunk lid are removed, place additional weight in the luggage compartment before lifting. When significant weight is removed from the rear of the vehicle, the center of gravity may shift and may cause the vehicle to tip over on the lift.
  • Each tire/wheel assembly weighs approximately 30 lb (14 kg). Placing the front wheels in the luggage compartment may improve weight distribution.
  • Use the same support points when supporting the vehicle on safety stands.
  1. Position the lift pads under the support points as shown in the illustration.
  2. Raise the lift a few inches (centimeters) and rock the vehicle to make sure it is securely supported.
  3. Raise the lift to full height to check that the vehicle is securely supported.
    • Do not lift the jack approximately 180 mm (7.1 in.) from the edge of the S/SILL MLD.
    • Place the support within 45 mm (1.7 in.) of the front or rear of the jack pickup notch.
