Battery Warning Label Description
Warning/Caution Label (continued) A.
Keep lit cigarettes and any other open flames or sparks away from the battery.
B.
Wear eye protection when charging or working near the battery. Always provide ventilation when working in an enclosed area.
  • When lifting a plastic-cased battery, excessive pressure may cause acid leakage, which can result in injury. Lift the battery with a battery carrier or with hands on opposite corners.
  • Never attempt to replace the battery while the battery cables are connected.
  • The electrical ignition system operates at high voltage. Never touch these components with the engine running or the ignition switch ON.

C.
Keep batteries out of reach of children because batteries contain highly corrosive SULFURIC ACID. Do not allow battery acid to contact skin, eyes, clothing, or paint.
D.
If electrolyte gets into the eyes, flush eyes with clean water for at least 15 minutes and seek immediate medical attention. If possible, continue flushing with a sponge or cloth until medical help is provided.
If electrolyte contacts the skin, wash the contact area thoroughly. If you feel pain or burning, seek medical attention immediately.
E.
Always carefully read the following instructions before handling the battery.
F.
Hydrogen, a flammable gas, is always present in battery cells and may explode if ignited.
G.
Improperly disposed of batteries can harm the environment and human health.
Always check local battery disposal regulations.
Battery Handling and Storage
Battery
  • Batteries should be stored in a cool, dry place (27 °C) protected from direct sunlight.
  • MF batteries are tightly sealed to prevent acid leakage. However, tilting the battery at an angle of 45 degrees may cause acid to leak through the vent holes on the sides. Therefore, batteries must always be stored in an upright position. Do not place any tools or objects (such as conductors) on the battery.
  • It is extremely dangerous to use tools such as hammers on battery terminals when connecting cables to an installed battery.
Battery Installed in the Vehicle
  • When storing the vehicle for a long period, make sure to remove the battery fuse from the fuse box to prevent natural discharge.
  • If the vehicle is stored with the battery fuse connected, start the engine to charge the battery within one month from the start of storage. If the vehicle is stored with the battery fuse disconnected, start the engine to charge the battery within three months from the start of storage.

After reconnecting or recharging a discharged battery, the ESP OFF indicator may illuminate. In this case, turn the steering wheel halfway to the left and right while the ignition switch is in the ON position. Then restart the engine after turning off the ignition. The ESP OFF indicator may go off. If the ESP OFF indicator does not go off, inspect the system using the DTC. (Refer to Group BR.)
