SPEED CONTROL

Cruise control is turned on with the main "ON/OFF" switch located on the right side of the steering column. The system is capable of controlling vehicle speed, coasting, acceleration and passing. It also has a fuse, which is activated when the brake pedal is depressed or by the shift lever. The ECM is the control module of this system. The main components of the cruise control system are the control switches, the transmission range switch, the brake switch, the vehicle speed sensor, the ECM and the ETS actuator, which are connected to the throttle body. The ECM has a low speed limit to prevent the system from being activated below the minimum speed of 40 km/h. Operation of the controller is controlled by the control switches located on the steering wheel. The transmission range switch and the brake switch serve to deactivate the cruise control system. The switches are located on the brake pedal bracket and on the transmission. When the brake pedal is depressed or the shift lever is activated, the cruise control system is electrically deactivated and the throttle valve returns to the idle position. Cruise Control Main Switch (ON/OFF) The cruise control system is turned on by pressing the main cruise control "ON/OFF" switch. Pressing the main cruise control "ON/OFF" switch again releases the throttle, clears the stored speed and cancels cruise control mode. SET/Coast Switch (SET/–) The "SET/–" switch, located on the right side of the steering column, has two functions. SET Function - Press and release the "SET/–" switch at the desired speed. The SET indicator lights on the instrument cluster. Release the accelerator pedal. The desired speed is maintained automatically. Coast Function - Press and hold the "SET/–" switch while cruise control is activated. The vehicle slowly decelerates. Release the switch at the desired speed. The desired speed is stored. Press and quickly release the "SET/–" switch. The set speed decreases by 2 km/h or 1.6 km/h. Resume/Accelerate Switch (RES/+) The "RES/+" switch, located on the right side of the steering column, has two functions. Resume Function - If a method other than the main cruise control "ON/OFF" switch was used to cancel cruise control temporarily and the system is still active, the most recent set speed is automatically restored when the "RES/+" switch is activated. However, this will not occur if the vehicle speed has decreased below 40 km/h. Accelerate Function - Press and hold the "RES/+" switch while cruise control is activated. The vehicle gradually accelerates. Release the switch at the desired speed. The desired speed is stored. Press and quickly release the "RES/+" switch. The set speed increases by 2 km/h or 1.6 km/h. Cancel Switch (CANCEL) The cruise control system is temporarily deactivated by pressing the "CANCEL" switch. Cruise control canceled by this switch can be resumed using the "RES/+" switch.
