Important – Using the Compact Spare Tire
Your vehicle is equipped with a compact spare tire. This compact spare tire takes up less space than a full-size tire and is designed for temporary use only.
NOTICE
- Use caution when driving with the compact spare tire installed. It should be replaced with a regular tire and wheel as soon as possible.
- It is not recommended to drive this vehicle with more than one compact spare tire at a time.
WARNING
The compact spare tire is intended for emergency use only. Never drive the vehicle with this compact tire at speeds exceeding 80 km/h. The original tire should be repaired or replaced as soon as possible to avoid a spare tire failure, which may result in personal injury or death.
The compact spare tire must be inflated to 420 kPa (60 psi).
Intelligent
Check the tire pressure after installing the spare tire. If necessary, adjust it to the specified pressure.
When using the compact spare tire, observe the following precautions:
- Under no circumstances should you drive at speeds above 80 km/h; higher speeds may damage the tire.
- Make sure you drive slowly enough for the road conditions to avoid hazards. Any road hazards, such as holes or debris, can seriously damage the compact tire.
- Continued use of this tire on the road may cause a blowout, loss of vehicle control, and possible personal injury.
- Do not exceed the maximum load capacity or load rating indicated on the sidewall of the compact spare tire.
- Avoid driving over obstacles. The compact spare tire diameter is smaller than a regular tire and reduces ground clearance by approximately 25 mm (1 in), which may cause damage to the vehicle.
- Do not wash this vehicle at an automatic car wash until the compact spare tire has been removed and replaced with a regular tire.
- Do not use snow chains on the compact spare tire. Due to its smaller size, the anti-skid chain will not fit properly. This may damage the vehicle and create a risk of the chain coming loose.
- Do not install the compact spare tire on the front axle when driving on snow or ice.
- Do not use the compact spare tire on any other vehicle. This tire was designed specifically for your vehicle.
- The service life of the compact spare tire is shorter than that of a regular tire. Inspect the spare tire regularly, and replace it if it is worn. Use only the same size and design of tire as installed on the other wheels.
- The compact spare tire must not be used on other wheels. Standard tires, winter tires, wheels, or wheel covers must not be used on the compact spare tire. Attempting to do so may cause damage to vehicle components.
- Do not use more than one compact spare tire at the same time.
- Do not tow a trailer while the compact spare tire is installed.
