Side Airbag Module Description and Operation

~1min read

Description

  • The curtain airbag (CAB) is built into the left/right roof headlining, respectively, protecting occupants from side impact and rollover.
  • Side impact sensors (SIS), installed on the left and right center pillars and in the center of the front door end module, detect a side impact in a collision. The SRSCM uses signals from these sensors to determine whether the curtain airbag should deploy.
