Warning Lamp Activation

WARNING LAMP BEHAVIOR AT IGNITION ON

As soon as operating voltage is supplied to the SRSCM ignition input, the SRSCM activates the warning lamp LED. The lamp should illuminate for 6 seconds during the initialization phase, and then turn off. To warn the driver, the lamp should illuminate for 6 seconds, turn off for 1 second, and then remain on continuously after operating voltage is supplied if an active malfunction is present.
  1. Malfunction is active.
  2. Only a historical or normal malfunction exists.
  3. When the ignition is turned on during variant coding (EOL), the airbag warning lamp flashes at 1-second intervals until coding is complete. If variant coding is completed normally, the warning lamp illuminates for 6 seconds and turns off. Otherwise, the airbag warning lamp flashes continuously at 1-second intervals.
    1. If variant coding is completed normally.
    2. If variant coding is not completed.
If a current malfunction exists in the airbag system, or an internal malfunction of the SRSCM, variant coding (EOL) cannot be completed. In this case, repeat the variant coding (EOL) procedure after troubleshooting with GDS.
  4. Loss of battery power to the SRSCM: the warning lamp does not illuminate.
  5. Loss of internal operating voltage: the warning lamp is activated continuously.
  6. Loss of microprocessor operation: the warning lamp is activated continuously.
  7. SRSCM not connected: the warning lamp illuminates continuously.
SRSCM INDEPENDENT ACTIVATION OF WARNING LAMP. Some malfunctions prevent the SRSCM from operating, and therefore it cannot control the standard warning lamp. In these cases, the standard lamp is activated directly by the applicable circuit, which operates independently of the SRSCM. These cases are: PASSENGER AIRBAG DEACTIVATION. The SRSCM is designed with a circuit and software to drive the PAD warning lamp, which is used to indicate that the passenger airbag system is deactivated. To confirm that the PAD warning lamp circuit operates correctly, the SRSCM and PAD warning lamps are powered from the same line. After ignition is turned on, the PAD lamp illuminates for 4 seconds and turns off for 3 seconds during the initialization phase. After this, the lamp remains illuminated while the PAD switch is in the OFF position. The PAD ON/OFF switch prevents passenger airbag activation. The PAD ON/OFF switch affects only passenger airbag activation and is operated manually. The PAD ON/OFF switch operates as follows:
PAD ON/OFF Switch Status PAD indicator BAT
Initialization phase ON→OFF Default
Position activated OFF ALLOW
Off position WE Deactivation
Abnormality Based on PAB Default
