You should maintain a sufficient distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you.
Brake gently. In addition, speeding, rapid acceleration, sudden braking, and sharp turns can be very dangerous practices. When braking, use engine braking as much as possible. Sudden braking on a snowy or icy road may cause skidding.
When driving on heavily snow-covered roads, it may be necessary to use winter tires or fit snow chains on the tires.
Always carry emergency equipment. Items you may wish to carry include snow chains, tow straps, a flashlight, sand, a shovel, traction mats, a window scraper, gloves, a blanket, coveralls, a blanket, etc.
