Electrochromic Mirror (ECM)

~1min read

When driving at night or in low-light conditions, the electrochromic mirror automatically reduces glare from the headlights of vehicles behind you.

When the engine is running, glare is automatically controlled by a sensor installed in the mirror. The sensor detects the light level around the vehicle and, through a chemical reaction, automatically adjusts to control glare from the headlights of vehicles behind you.

When the shift lever is in the R (reverse) position, the outside rearview mirror automatically switches to its brightest setting to improve visibility for drivers behind the vehicle.

To operate the power mirror:

  • Press the ON/OFF button (1) to disable the automatic dimming function. The rearview mirror indicator turns off.
Press the ON/OFF button (1) to activate the automatic dimming function. The mirror indicator light turns on.
  • When the ignition is turned on, the mirror is set to the ON position.
