Tire Replacement with TPMS
If a tire is flat or the tire pressure is low, the TPMS warning light will illuminate. The system must be checked by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
CAUTION
It is recommended that you do not use tire repair sealant or inflate a low-pressure tire. Tire sealant not approved by HYUNDAI may damage the tire pressure sensor.
Each wheel is equipped with a tire pressure sensor installed inside the tire behind the valve stem. You must use TPMS-specific wheels. It is recommended that your tires be serviced by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
If you drive the vehicle for about 10 minutes at speeds above 15.5 mph (25 km/h) after replacing a low pressure tire with the spare wheel, the following will occur:
• The TPMS malfunction indicator may flash for approximately 1 minute and then remain continuously illuminated because the TPMS sensor is not installed on the spare wheel.
You may not be able to identify a low-pressure tire just by looking at it. Always use a quality tire pressure gauge to measure tire pressure. Please note that a warm tire (after driving) will have a higher pressure reading than a cold tire (after the vehicle has been parked for at least 3 hours and driven less than 1 mile (1.6 km) during that 3-hour period).
Allow the tire to cool before measuring the tire inflation pressure. Always make sure the tire is cold before inflating it to the recommended pressure.
A cold tire means the vehicle has been parked for 3 hours and has been driven less than 1 mile (1.6 km) during that 3-hour period.
WARNING
- The TPMS cannot warn you of serious and sudden tire damage caused by external factors such as nails or road debris.
- If you feel the vehicle becoming unstable, immediately release the accelerator pedal, apply the brakes gradually with light force, and slowly move to a safe location off the road.
WARNING
Tampering with, modifying, or disabling the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) components may prevent the system from warning the driver of low tire pressure conditions and/or TPMS malfunctions. Tampering with, modifying, or disabling the TPMS components may void the warranty for this part of the vehicle.
WARNING
- Do not modify the vehicle; this may interfere with the operation of the TPMS function.
- Aftermarket wheels do not have TPMS sensors. For your safety, we recommend that replacement parts be installed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
- If you use aftermarket wheels, use TPMS sensors approved by HYUNDAI. If your vehicle is not equipped with TPMS sensors or the TPMS does not operate properly, you may fail the periodic vehicle inspection required in your country.
❈All vehicles sold in the EUROPEAN market during the period below must be equipped with TPMS.
