Seat Belt Reminder Light

This reminds the driver that the seat belt warning light will illuminate for approximately 6 seconds each time the ignition is turned on, regardless of whether the seat belt is fastened.

If the seat belt is not fastened while the ignition key is on, or if it is unfastened after the ignition switch is on, the seat belt warning light will remain on until the seat belt is fastened.

If you start driving without fastening the seat belt, or you unfasten the seat belt while driving above 20 km/h, the corresponding warning light will remain on until the seat belt is fastened.

If you continue driving without fastening the seat belt, or you unfasten the seat belt while driving above 20 km/h, the unfastened seat belt warning chime will sound for approximately 100 seconds and the corresponding warning light will flash.

This reminds the front passenger. The front passenger seat belt unfastened warning light will illuminate for approximately 6 seconds each time the ignition is turned on, regardless of whether the seat belt is fastened.

If the seat belt is not fastened while the ignition key is on, or if it is unfastened after the ignition switch is on, the seat belt warning light will remain on until the seat belt is fastened.

WARNING

Improper seating position adversely affects the front passenger seat belt unfastened warning system. It is important for the driver to instruct the passenger to sit properly as described in this manual.

Information

• The front passenger seat belt warning light is located in the center of the instrument panel.
• Even when the front passenger seat is unoccupied, the seat belt unfastened warning light may flash or remain on for 6 seconds.
• The front passenger seat belt warning may activate when luggage is placed on the front passenger seat.

This reminds rear passengers. The rear passenger seat belt warning lights will illuminate for approximately 6 seconds each time the ignition is turned on, regardless of whether the seat belt is fastened.

The rear seat belt unfastened warning light will then illuminate for approximately 35 seconds if any of the following occurs:

- You drive faster than 9 km/h while a rear seat belt is unfastened.
- A rear seat belt is unfastened while driving below 12 mph (20 km/h).

If the rear seat belt is fastened, the warning light will turn off immediately. If the rear seat belt is unfastened while driving at 12 mph (20 km/h) or above, the corresponding seat belt warning light will flash and the warning chime will sound for 35 seconds.

However, if the knee/shoulder belt of a rear passenger is fastened and unfastened twice within 9 seconds after the seat belt is fastened, the corresponding seat belt unfastened warning will not operate.
