Description

BCW is a system that measures the relative speed and distance of following vehicles using two electromagnetic wave radar sensors mounted on the rear bumper, and detects any vehicle in the blind spot and issues a warning (visual and audible).
  • BCW indicator: detects other vehicles in the BCW zone and illuminates the BCW indicator lamp for the driver. The indicator lamp starts flashing when the driver turns on the turn signal to change lanes toward a vehicle that is approaching.
  • Lane Change Assist (LCA): recognizes approaching high-speed vehicles in the BCW zone and illuminates the BCW indicator lamp for the driver. The indicator lamp starts flashing when the driver turns on the turn signal without recognizing a suddenly approaching vehicle from that direction.
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCTA): when the vehicle is reversing, RCTA generates a warning to alert the driver of another vehicle approaching from the rear and side.
System Operating Mode
  1. When the engine is started with the switch in the OFF position, the OFF mode is activated.
  2. When the ON switch is pressed in OFF mode, the passive mode is activated.
  3. If the engine is started with the switch on, passive mode is activated. ※ When the ignition is on, the switch is in its initial state: the last position is retained.
    • If IGN OFF → ON with the switch on, the switch is on.
    • If IGN OFF → ON with the switch in the OFF position, the switch is in the OFF position.
  4. If you start the engine with the BCW switch on, or turn on the BCW with the ignition off, the outside mirror indicator lamp continues to flash for 2-3 seconds. This informs the driver that the BCW system is ready. (Provided the system is not in fail mode, there is no flashing.)
  5. If activation conditions (speed and curve radius) are met during driving, active mode is on (warning issued).
  6. If activation conditions (speed and curve radius) are not met during driving, passive mode is on (warning canceled).
  7. If BCW and LCA operation fails in any mode, fail mode is activated.
  8. If BCW and LCA operations are normal in fail mode, OFF mode is on.
  9. If the OFF button is pressed during BCW and LCA operation (active/passive), OFF mode is on.
