Hood
Hood Opening

1. Park the vehicle and apply the parking brake.
2. Pull the hood release lever. The hood should pop up slightly.

3. Go to the front of the vehicle, lift the hood slightly, press the secondary latch (1) inside the center of the hood, and lift the hood (2).
4. Pull out the support rod.

5. Hold the hood open with the prop rod (1).
WARNING
- Hold the prop rod at the rubber-covered area. The rubber will help prevent you from being burned by hot metal when the engine is hot.
- The prop rod must be fully inserted into the hole provided for it each time you check the engine compartment. This prevents the hood from falling and possibly causing injury.
Hood Closing
1. Before closing the hood, check the following:
- All engine compartment filler caps must be installed correctly.
- Gloves, rags, and any other flammable materials must be removed from the engine compartment.
2. Return the support rod to its clip so that it does not rattle.
3. Lower the hood halfway (about 30 cm above the closed position) and press down to securely latch it in place. Then check twice to make sure the hood is secure.
If the hood can be lifted slightly, it is not latched. Open it again and close it with more force.
WARNING
- Before closing the hood, make sure all obstacles around the hood opening area have been removed.
- Always check twice that the hood is securely latched before driving. Make sure the hood open warning light or message on the instrument cluster is not illuminated. If the hood is not latched while the vehicle is moving, a warning chime will sound to alert the driver that the hood is not fully closed. Driving with the hood open may cause a complete loss of visibility, which may result in an accident.
- Do not drive the vehicle with the hood raised. If the hood is not latched, it may fall or be damaged, and may cause an accident.
