Removal

  1. After making alignment marks on the flange yoke and transmission companion flange, remove the driveshaft mounting bolts (A).

    Tightening Torque: 49.0–64 N·m

  2. Remove the center bearing bracket mounting bolts (A).

    Tightening Torque: 49.0–64 N·m

  3. Make alignment marks on the flexible coupling and companion flange and the corresponding marks on the differential carrier, then remove the propeller shaft mounting bolts.

    Tightening Torque: 49.0–64 N·m

Inspection

Inspect Flexible Coupling
  1. Check the front and rear flexible couplings for cracks or damage.
  2. Inspect the flexible coupling centering sleeve. If the sleeve is damaged, replace the propeller shaft assembly.
  3. Install the dial indicator so that its plunger contacts the center of the front propeller shaft or rear propeller shaft.
  4. Slowly rotate the propeller shaft and check the runout. Repeat this procedure for the other propeller shaft.

Propeller shaft runout: 0.3 mm (0.012 in.)

  5. Place the transmission in Neutral or N.
  6. Raise the vehicle and make sure it is securely supported.
  7. Inspect the CV joint boot (A). If the CV joint boot is damaged, replace the propeller shaft assembly.
  8. Check the CV joint for excessive movement. If present, replace the propeller shaft.
