Removal

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the steering wheel. (Refer to Steering System - "Steering Wheel")
  3. Remove the upper and lower steering column covers after loosening the screws. (Refer to Body – Steering Column Cover Panel)
  4. Remove the clock spring. (Refer to Restraint System - "Driver Airbag (DAB) Module and Clock Spring")
  5. Disconnect the multifunction switch connector (A).
  6. Remove the multifunction switch assembly (A) after loosening the screws.

Installation

  1. Install the multifunction switch.
  2. Install the clock spring.
  3. Install the upper and lower steering column covers.
  4. Install the steering wheel.
  5. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal.

Inspection

  1. Check the continuity between terminals at each switch position in accordance with the table.

  2. The body electrical system can be quickly diagnosed for faulty parts using the Diagnostic System (GDS). The diagnostic system (GDS) provides the following information.
    1. Self-Diagnosis: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) check and display
    2. Current Data: Check the system input/output status.
    3. Actuation Test: Check the system operating status
    4. Optional Function: Other controls, such as optional system and zero adjustment.
  3. Select the "Vehicle Model" and the system to be checked in order to inspect the vehicle with the scan tool.
  4. Select "Body Control Module (BCM)" to inspect the multifunction switch.
  5. Select the "Current Data" menu to check the current input/output status. Input/output data for the sensors related to the multifunction switch can be checked.
