Airbag Deployment Conditions

~1min read

Front Airbag

The front airbags are designed to deploy in a frontal collision, depending on the severity, speed, and angle of impact.

Side Airbags and Curtain Airbags

The side airbags and curtain airbags deploy when the impact sensors detect an impact, depending on the severity, speed, and angle of impact.

Although the driver and front passenger airbags are designed to deploy only in a frontal collision, they may also deploy in other situations if the front impact sensors detect a sufficiently severe collision. The side airbags and curtain airbags deploy in a side collision. However, they may also deploy in other situations if the side impact sensors detect sufficient impact.

Airbags may also deploy when the vehicle strikes road hazards, curbs, or objects on rough roads. Be especially careful on rough roads or surfaces that are not intended for vehicle travel to avoid unintended airbag deployment.
