Curtain Airbags

Curtain airbags are located along both sides of the roof side rails above the front and rear doors.
They are designed to protect the heads of front seat passengers and rear side seat passengers in certain side impacts.
The curtain airbags are designed to deploy during certain side impacts, depending on the severity of the impact.
For vehicles equipped with the rollover sensor function, the side airbags and/or curtain airbags and pretensioners on both sides of the vehicle may deploy in the event of a rollover or a possible rollover being detected.
Curtain airbags are not designed to deploy in every side impact or rollover situation.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of serious injury or death from an inflating side curtain airbag, observe the following precautions:
- All passengers must always wear their seat belts properly to help keep passengers positioned correctly.
- Install the child restraint system as far from the door as possible.
- Do not place any objects over the airbag. Also, do not attach any objects around the area where the airbag inflates, such as the door, side window glass, front and rear pillars, or roof side rails.
- Do not hang any objects other than clothing, especially hard or sharp objects. In a crash, this may cause the vehicle to be damaged or injuries to occur.
- Do not allow passengers to lean their head or body against the door, place their hands on the door, extend their arms out of the window, or place objects between the door and the seat.
- Do not open or repair the side curtain airbag.
