From the OFF (O) position, pull the lever toward you carefully to spray washer fluid and operate the wipers for 1 to 3 cycles. Fluid spray and wiping continue as long as you hold the lever. If the washer does not operate, the washer fluid reservoir may need to be refilled.

On equipped vehicles, washer fluid is sprayed onto the headlights when you operate the windshield washer under the following conditions:

1. The ignition is ON.

2. The light switch is in the headlight position.

WARNING

When the outside air temperature is below freezing, ALWAYS warm the windshield with the defroster to prevent washer fluid from freezing on the windshield. Frozen fluid reduces visibility and may cause a serious or fatal accident.

WARNING

  • To prevent damage to the washer fluid pump, do not operate the washer when the reservoir is empty.
  • To prevent damage to the wiper blades or windshield, do not operate the wipers when the windshield is dry.
  • To prevent damage to the wiper arms or other components, do not attempt to move the wipers by hand.
  • To prevent damage to the wipers and washer system, use windshield washer antifreeze in winter and in cold weather.
