Emergency Measures

Tires

Do not install tires or wheels of a different size or type than those originally installed for the safety and performance of your vehicle. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious injury due to loss of control or rollover of the vehicle.

When replacing tires, be sure to install tires of the same size, type, tread, brand, and load rating on all four wheels. If you equip your vehicle with tires/wheels not recommended by HYUNDAI for off-road driving, do not use these tires on paved roads.

WARNING

Never attempt to start or run the engine of a 4WD vehicle in gear while it is on a jack. The vehicle may slip or fall off the jack and cause death or serious injury to you or bystanders.

Tow/Haul

All-wheel drive vehicles must be towed with all four wheels raised off the ground, on a dolly or on a trailer. For more information, refer to the "Towing" section in Chapter 6.

Dynamometer Testing

An all-wheel drive vehicle with full-time transfer case must be tested using a chassis dynamometer specifically designed for all-wheel drive vehicles.

An all-wheel drive vehicle with full-time transfer case must not be tested on a two-wheel drive dynamometer. If a two-wheel dynamometer must be used, follow the instructions below:

1. Check the recommended tire pressure of your vehicle.

2. Position the front wheels on the dynamometer as shown in the illustration.

3. Release the parking brake.

4. Position the rear wheels on the temporary free-rolling device as shown in the illustration.

WARNING

  • Never apply the parking brake during the test.
  • When jacking up the vehicle, do not turn the front and rear wheels separately. All four wheels must work together.

WARNING

Do not approach the front of the vehicle while it is running on the dynamometer with a gear engaged. The jack may easily disengage from the vehicle and cause death or serious injury.
