Description and Operation

Description

The photo sensor is located in the center of the defroster nozzles. The photo sensor contains a photoelectric diode (sensitive to sunlight). The sun's rays captured by the photo sensor receiver generate an electromotive force proportional to the amount of radiation received, which is transmitted to the automatic temperature control module so that solar radiation compensation is performed.

Repair Procedures

Inspection

  1. Start.
  2. Connect the GDS.
  3. Direct intense light onto the photo sensor using a lamp and check the change in output voltage.
  4. The voltage will increase if the light is intense and decrease if the light is dim.
    1. Automatic light signal
    2. Auto light ground
    3. Photo signal (D)
    4. Power indicator (B+)
    5. LED ground (to BCM)
    6. Photo signal (G)
    7. Photo flow
    8. Automatic lighting power (5 V)

REPLACEMENT

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Using a flat-blade screwdriver, remove the photo sensor (A) from the center of the defroster nozzle after disconnecting the connector (B).
