▶Self-diagnosis
The Transmission Control Module (TCM) constantly communicates with the control system components (sensors and solenoids). If an abnormal signal continues for longer than the specified time, the TCM detects a malfunction, stores the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) in memory, and then outputs the fault signal through the self-diagnosis terminal. These DTCs are stored independently and are not erased even if the ignition switch is turned off, the battery is disconnected, or the TCM connector is disconnected.INSPECTION PROCEDURE (SELF-DIAGNOSIS)Inspection Procedure (Using GDS)- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
- Connect the GDS to the data link connector on the lower edge of the instrument panel.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Use the GDS to check the diagnostic trouble code.
- Using the diagnostic chart, repair the faulty part.
- Erase the diagnostic trouble code.
- Disconnect the GDS.
