Removing and Storing the Spare Tire Illustrated

~1min read

Your spare tire is stored under the vehicle, below the pickup bed area.

To remove the spare tire:

1. To easily remove the spare tire cover, insert a corner or flat-head screwdriver and turn counterclockwise as marked on the cover.

2. Attach the socket to the wheel nut wrench.

3. Use the wheel nut wrench to loosen the bolt enough to lower the spare tire as illustrated. Turn the wrench counterclockwise until the spare tire reaches the ground.

4. After the spare tire reaches the ground, continue turning the wrench counterclockwise and pull the spare tire out from the outside. Never overtighten the wrench, otherwise the spare tire carrier may be damaged.

5. Remove the retainer (1) from the center of the spare tire.

To store the spare tire:

1. Place the tire on the ground with the valve stem facing up.

2. Place the tire under the vehicle and install the retainer (1) through the center of the tire.

3. Turn the wrench clockwise until it clicks.

WARNING

Make sure the spare tire carrier is properly aligned with the center of the spare tire so that the spare tire does not rattle. Otherwise, the spare tire may fall from the carrier and cause an accident.
