Airbag Deployment Conditions

~1min read

Front Airbags

The front airbags are designed to deploy in a frontal collision depending on the severity of the impact.

Side Airbags and Side Curtain Airbags

The side airbags and curtain airbags deploy when side impact sensors detect an impact, depending on the severity, speed, or angle of the side impact.

Although the driver and front passenger airbags are designed to deploy in frontal collisions, they may also deploy in other types of collisions if the frontal impact sensors detect a severe impact. The side airbags and curtain airbags are designed to deploy in a side collision, but they may deploy in other collisions if the side impact sensors detect a severe impact.

In addition, the side airbags and curtain airbags deploy in a rollover when determined by the rollover sensor. (if equipped with a rollover sensor)

If the underbody of the vehicle strikes bumps or objects on rough roads, the airbags may deploy. Drive carefully on rough roads or surfaces not intended for vehicle travel to prevent unintentional airbag deployment.
