Installing a Child Seat Using the Three-Point Safety Belt

To install a child seat on the center or outboard rear seat, do the following:

1. Place the child seat on the seat and route the three-point safety belt through the openings in the seat or around the seat in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted.

2. Insert the tongue of the three-point safety belt into the buckle. A distinct click indicates that it is latched.

Position the buckle release button so that it is easily accessible in an emergency.

3. Fasten the belt and allow it to tighten.

After installing the child seat, try to move it in different directions to make sure it is securely installed.

If it is necessary to tighten the belt, feed the belt webbing into the housing of the automatic tensioning device. If the seat belt is unbuckled and allowed to retract into the housing of the automatic tensioning device, the device will automatically return to its normal operating position.
