Securing the Child Restraint Using the Top Tether Strap (if equipped)

~6min read

The child restraint anchor hooks are located in the storage compartment or on the floor behind the rear seats.

1. Пропустите ремень крепления детского сиденья над спинкой сиденья.

1. Route the child restraint top tether strap over the seatback.

For vehicles equipped with adjustable head restraints, route the child restraint top tether strap under the head restraint between its posts, or otherwise route it over the seatback.
2. Connect the top tether strap hook to the child restraint anchor and tighten the strap to secure the child restraint.

WARNING

- Top Tether Strap: Never use a single child restraint anchor (top tether anchor or lower anchor) to secure more than one child restraint.

Excessive load from multiple seats may cause the top tether straps or lower anchors to fail, which may result in serious injury or death to the child.

WARNING

If the child restraint is not properly secured, or the child is not properly restrained in it, the risk of serious injury or death to the child in a traffic accident increases significantly.

Always follow the child restraint manufacturer's instructions when installing and using the child restraint.

WARNING

- Checking the Child Restraint

Make sure the child restraint is securely installed by trying to move it in different directions. If the child restraint is not installed correctly, it may wobble, rotate, tilt, or separate from the seat, which may result in death or serious injury to the child.

WARNING

- Child Restraint Anchors

• Child restraint anchors are designed to withstand loads from a properly installed child restraint only. Under no circumstances use them to secure seat belts or to fasten other items or equipment in the vehicle.
• Attaching the tether system in any way other than with the appropriate connector may cause it to malfunction.

Securing the Child Restraint Using the ISOFIX System and Top Tether Strap (if equipped)

The ISOFIX system is a standardized method of installing child restraints in the vehicle that eliminates the need to use the seat belts to secure the child restraint. It provides a more secure installation while making installation easier and faster.

A seat equipped with ISOFIX may be installed only if it is certified for use in this vehicle in accordance with ECE-R44 requirements.

Имеются этикетки ISOFIX, расположенные в нижней части с каждой стороны задних

ISOFIX labels are located at the bottom of the rear seats on each side. These symbols indicate the positions of the lower child restraint anchors.

Both outboard rear seats are equipped with a pair of ISOFIX anchors, as well as corresponding top tether anchors on the back of the seatback. The ISOFIX anchors are located between the seat cushion and seatback, marked with the ISOFIX symbol.

When installing, the ISOFIX child restraint connectors must engage the vehicle's ISOFIX anchors (an audible click indicates engagement; check the child restraint's visual indicators and perform an additional pull test).

A universal ECE-R 44 child restraint must be installed with the additional top tether strap connected to the corresponding top tether anchor on the seatback.

The child restraint must be installed and used in accordance with the installation instructions supplied with the child restraint equipped with ISOFIX anchors.

WARNING

• When using the vehicle's ISOFIX system to install a child restraint on a rear seat, all unused seat belt buckles must be latched to their receptacles, and the seat belts must be positioned behind the child restraint so that the child cannot reach and grab the free seat belt parts.

Unlatched seat belt buckles may allow the child to reach the free seat belt parts, which may result in strangulation and serious injury or death of the child in the child restraint.
• Do not place anything near the lower anchors. Also make sure the seat belts do not catch on the lower anchors.

How to secure the child seat:

1. To secure the child seat, connect the two parts of the ISOFIX connector: one attached to the seat and the other fixed to the rear vehicle seat. An audible click indicates engagement.

2. Connect the mating part of the tether anchorage lock to the upper tether anchorage of the child seat and tighten the strap to secure the seat. (See previous page.)

WARNING

• Do not install a child seat in the center of the rear seat using the ISOFIX lower anchorages on the vehicle. ISOFIX anchorages are designed only for securing a child seat in the right or left position of the rear seat. Do not misuse ISOFIX anchorages by trying to secure a child seat in the center of the rear seat.

In a collision, the ISOFIX anchorages may not be strong enough to hold a child seat installed in the center of the rear seat in place. Failure of the anchorages may result in serious injury or death of the child.

• Do not use a child seat lower anchorage to secure more than one child restraint of this type.

Excessive loading may cause the anchorage to fail (break), which may result in serious injury or death of the child.
• Secure child seats with ISOFIX or ISOFIX-compatible anchorages only in the positions shown in the illustration.
• Always follow the installation and use instructions provided by the child seat manufacturer.
