Locking

Using the Door Handle Switch

Pressing the button on the outside handle of either front door, with all doors (and the tailgate/liftgate) closed and any unlocked door, locks all doors (and the tailgate/liftgate). If all doors and the tailgate are closed, the hazard warning lights will flash once to indicate that all doors are locked. However, if any door is open, the doors will not lock and a warning beep will sound for 3 seconds. Close the door and try locking the doors again. If the tailgate/liftgate is left open, the hazard warning lights will not flash. Once the tailgate/liftgate is closed, the hazard warning lights will flash once. The button will work only if the electronic key is no farther than 0.7~1 m (28~40 in.) from the outside door handle. To confirm that the door is locked, check the door lock button inside the vehicle or pull the outside door handle.

Even when the buttons on the outside door handles are pressed, the doors will not lock and a warning beep will sound for 3 seconds in any of the following situations:

• The electronic key is inside the vehicle.
• The ignition switch is in the ACC or ON position.
• Any door other than the tailgate/liftgate is open.

Using the Electronic Key Button

All doors (and the tailgate/liftgate) will lock when the lock button (1) is pressed. If all doors (and the tailgate/liftgate) are closed, the hazard warning lights will flash once to indicate that all doors are locked. However, if any door (or the tailgate/liftgate) is open, the hazard warning lights will not flash. If all doors (and the tailgate/liftgate) are closed, the hazard warning lights will flash once after the lock button is pressed.

Unlocking

Using the Door Handle Switch

Pressing the button on the outside handle of any front door with all doors (and the tailgate / liftgate) closed and locked will unlock all doors (and the tailgate / liftgate). The hazard warning lights will flash twice to indicate that all doors (and the tailgate / liftgate) are unlocked. The button will operate only when the smart key is within 0.7~1 m (28~40 in.) of the outside door handle. If the smart key within 0.7~1 m (28~40 in.) of the outside handle of the front door is recognized by the system, other persons may also open the door without the smart key. If no door is opened within 30 seconds after pressing the button, all doors will automatically lock again.

Using the Electronic Key Button

Using the Button on the Smart Key

The trunk lid will open when the trunk unlock button (3) is pressed and held for longer than 1 second. When the trunk is opened and then closed, it will lock automatically.

Unlocking the Liftgate (Hatchback)

Using the Liftgate Handle Switch

If the smart key is within 0.7~1 m (28~40 in.) of the outside liftgate handle, the liftgate will unlock and open when the switch on the liftgate handle is pressed. The hazard warning lights will flash twice to indicate that the liftgate is unlocked.
