Electric Window Lifters

For the power windows to operate, the ignition key must be in the ON position.

Each door has a power window switch for that door.

However, the driver's position has a power window lock switch that disables the passengers' door window switches.

Depending on vehicle equipment, the power windows can be operated for approximately 30 seconds after the ignition is turned off (key turned to “ACC” or “LOCK”) or after the key is removed from the ignition switch. However, if the front doors are open, the power windows cannot be operated even within 30 seconds after the key is removed from the ignition switch.

NOTE

When driving with the rear door windows lowered or the sunroof fully or partially open (if equipped), wind buffeting or pulsating noise may be felt. This noise is normal and can be reduced or eliminated.

If it occurs with one or both rear door windows lowered, slightly (approximately 2-3 cm) lower both front door windows. If the noise occurs with the sunroof open, slightly close it.

Window Opening and Closing

The driver's door has a master switch that controls all power windows in the vehicle.

To open or close a window, push down or pull up the front part of the corresponding switch to the first detent position (5).

Automatic Window Opening (if equipped) (Driver's Window)

Quickly push the power window switch to the second detent position (6), and the driver's window will fully lower even after the switch is released. To stop the window at the desired position while it is moving, quickly move the switch in the direction opposite to the window movement and release it.

Automatic Window Up/Down (if equipped) (Driver's Window)

Quickly push or pull the power window switch down or up to the second detent position (6), and the driver's window will fully lower or raise even after the switch is released. To stop the window at the desired position while it is moving, move the switch in the direction opposite to the window movement and release it.

If the power window does not operate properly, reset its automatic control system as follows:

1. Turn the ignition key to the ON position.
2. Fully close the window and keep the driver's door power window switch pulled up for at least 1 second.

Automatic Window Reversal

If the window encounters an object or part of a person's body while closing, the window control system will detect the resistance and stop the window. It will then lower approximately 30 cm (11.8 in.) so that the obstruction can be removed.

If resistance to the window's movement is detected while holding the power window switch in the up position, the upward movement will stop, and then the window will lower approximately 2.5 cm (1 in.).

If the switch is pulled up again and held within 5 seconds after the window has automatically lowered, the automatic window reversal function will be disabled.

NOTE

The automatic reversal function for all windows is active only in “automatic close” mode, which is activated by fully pulling up the switch. If the window is operated manually (by moving the switch not fully to the end), this function will not work.

WARNING

Always check for obstructions before closing any window to avoid injury or damage to the vehicle. The automatic reverse function may not operate if a foreign object between the glass and the window frame is less than 4 mm (0.16 in) in diameter: the resistance from such an object may go undetected by the power window control system.

Power window lockout switch (if equipped)

• The driver can lock out the rear door window switches. To do so, press the power window lockout switch on the driver's door to the LOCK (pressed) position.
• When the power window lockout switch is in the ON position, the rear door windows cannot be operated from the driver's master switch.
