Battery
Jump starting can be dangerous if it is not done correctly. Follow the jump starting procedures described in this section to avoid serious injury or vehicle damage. If you are unsure how to start your vehicle properly, we strongly recommend that you have a service technician or towing service do it for you.
WARNING
To prevent SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH to yourself or others, always follow these precautions when working near or handling the battery:

Always read and follow the instructions carefully when handling the battery.

Wear protective goggles designed to protect the eyes from acid splashes.

Keep all sources of flame, sparks, or smoking materials away from the battery.

Hydrogen is always present in batteries; it is highly flammable and may explode if ignited.

Keep batteries out of the reach of children.

Batteries contain sulfuric acid, which is highly corrosive. Do not allow acid to contact the eyes, skin, or clothing. If acid contacts the eyes, flush them with clean water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention immediately. If acid contacts the skin, wash the area thoroughly. If you feel pain or burning, seek medical attention immediately.
- When lifting a plastic-case battery, excessive pressure on the case may cause battery acid to leak. Lift using the battery carrier or with your hands on opposite corners.
- Do not attempt to jump start the vehicle if the battery is frozen.
- NEVER attempt to charge the battery while the vehicle battery cables are connected to the battery.
- The ignition system operates at high voltage. NEVER touch these components while the engine is running or when the ignition switch is in the ON position.
