Operation

Power Window Anti-Pinch Function. When the auto up switch of all door windows (front, rear) is pressed, the safety function is activated.
  1. Anti-Pinch Function Status. When a force of 100 N is detected while the window is closing, the window reverses.
  2. Window reverse distance (except when holding the auto-up switch)
    A. When a pinch is detected 4–250 mm from the top of the door, the window reverses to 300 mm from the top of the door.
    B. When a pinch is detected more than 250 mm from the top of the door: the window reverses to 50 mm from the pinch position. The window reverses 50 mm or moves to the fully down position in the case of a 50 mm reverse distance.
    C. When a pinch is detected more than 300 mm from the top of the door: the window stops at the reverse point.
  3. Window reverse distance (holding the auto-up switch)
    A. When a jam is detected while holding the auto up switch: the window reverses to 25 mm from the pinch position.
    B. Auto-up function is not available for 5 seconds after the above condition. > When the auto-up switch is held, the window operates as manual up. (Safety function is not activated.)
    C. When a jam is detected while holding the auto up switch again: the window reverses to 25 mm from the pinch position.
    D. 5 seconds after the above condition, when the auto-up switch is held, the window reverses to 25 mm from the pinch position.
  4. Safety function not available. The safety function is not available within 4 mm from the top of the door.
  5. Position Counter and Position Initialization
    1. Position Counter. Window position is counted using one Hall Effect Sensor (HES) connected to the timer capture unit of the controller with 180° resolution. Even if the battery is disconnected from the vehicle, the system must retain the window position information.
    2. Position Initialization. To initialize, the position counter detects the upper mechanical stop and the lower mechanical position. The Motor Control Unit (MCU) allows operation only in manual mode (without ASD Anti-Squeeze). Detection algorithm (function) before initialization. Initialization means the condition for moving the window system with full anti-pinch protection and related functions by detecting the window travel distance (upper/lower mechanical limits). Conditions for initialization
      A. Deinitialized position counter
      B. Power window up switch activated
      C. Jam condition detected (motor does not move more than 1 count within 1 s / depends on software)
Switch the action with the deinitialization condition:
      A. Up direction: manual and automatic input of P/WDW switch > manual mode;
      B. Down direction: manual input of P/WDW switch > manual mode; automatic input of S/W > automatic mode
    3. Reinitialization. During reinitialization, the position counter is set to zero at the upper position of the unit to compensate for software counting errors, mechanical tolerances, or physical effects. Conditions for reinitialization
      A. Initialized position counter.
      B. Window in the upper unit position (capture range programmed in EEPROM)
      C. Jam condition detected (no motor movement more than 1 count within 1 second / depends on software)
    4. Deinitialization. System initialization/calibration will be lost in the following cases:
      A. After changing a parameter via diagnostics
      B. Incorrect EEPROM checksum when waking up or switching on the ECU
      C. Movement beyond the predefined window travel (above the learned upper position, below the predefined lower position)
      D. Deinitialization after a specified number of reversals (EEPROM) without reinitialization at the upper seal (activation/deactivation controlled by EEPROM value). Moving the window down or disabling window regulator enable resets the reversal counter value (activation by EEPROM bit).
      E. Deinitialization after a specified number of movements (EEPROM) without reinitialization at the upper seal (activation/deactivation controlled by EEPROM value)
      F. Special Deinitialization Procedure. The special deinitialization procedure for the power windows works as follows:
      • System initialized
      • Move the window below the smooth stop position (position adjustable in EEPROM)
      • Press and hold the MANU down switch
      • Send enable signal (serial communication = PIN 6) ON > OFF > ON within 2 seconds (time adjustable in EEPROM)
    5. Soft-stop function: To reduce noise and mechanical stress, window movement is stopped under ECU control before the lower position is reached. Clearance 0/+10 mm (at 11.5 V to 14.5 V). To activate the soft-stop function at the bottom, the upper reference position and the lower initial position must be initialized. Therefore, the window is raised to the upper position until the lock condition is detected. This position is stored as the upper reference position. After that, the window moves to the lower position until the lock condition (mechanical stop) is detected. This position is stored as the lower initial position. The lower initial position is re-initialized:
      A. When the glass is moved down, starting from the soft-stop position
      B. Each "9" stops at the soft-stop position.
    6. Thermal protection: Thermal protection is implemented by a software module to prevent motor damage under overload conditions. Motor temperature is estimated by integrating the square of the motor current as an estimate of the heating power integral. When the calculated motor temperature exceeds the programmable upper limit in EEPROM, the motor is deactivated for a fixed time. Delay time (default value = 30 sec.) Thermal cut-off during window operation is not interrupted for safety reasons.
    7. Operating time limiter: The maximum operating time of the power window motor is limited to 15 seconds (programmable in EEPROM).
    8. Continuous reversal: The current number of continuous window reversals is 5. This counter will be initialized under the following conditions.
      A. IG OFF
      B. DOWN signal ON
      C. WINDOW CLOSE
