Warning Lamp Activation

Warning Lamp Behavior After Ignition ON

As soon as operating voltage is supplied to the SRSCM ignition input, the SRSCM activates the warning lamp for the LED lamp check. The lamp should illuminate for 6 seconds during the initialization phase and then turn off. However, to indicate to the driver, the warning lamp illuminates for 6 seconds and turns off for one second, then remains on continuously after operating voltage is supplied if any active malfunction is present.
  1. Active fault.
  2. There are only current or history malfunctions.
  3. When the ignition is turned on during End-of-Line (EOL) variant coding, the airbag warning lamp illuminates and flashes periodically at 1-second intervals until coding is complete. If the variant code is completed normally, the airbag warning lamp illuminates for 6 seconds and then turns off. Otherwise, the airbag warning lamp flashes continuously at 1-second intervals.
    1. If variant coding is completed normally
    2. If variant coding is not completed
If an active malfunction exists in the airbag system or an internal SRSCM malfunction is present, the End of Line (EOL) variant coding cannot be completed. In this case, repeat the EOL variant coding procedure after troubleshooting with GDS.
  4. Loss of SRSCM battery power: warning lamp remains on continuously.
  5. Loss of internal operating voltage: warning lamp remains on continuously.
  6. Loss of microprocessor operation: warning lamp remains on continuously.
  7. SRSCM not connected: warning lamp remains on continuously.
Independent Activation of SRSCM Warning Lamp: There are certain failure conditions in which the SRSCM cannot function and therefore cannot control the operation of the standard warning lamp. In these cases, the standard warning lamp is activated directly by the corresponding circuit, which operates independently of the SRSCM. These cases are: Passenger Airbag (PAB) On/Off Indicator Lamp: The warning lamp indicates that the passenger airbag (PAB) is on or off depending on the passenger seat occupant status. If the passenger seat is empty or occupied by a child (or child seat), the passenger airbag is deactivated and the warning lamp illuminates to inform the driver that the PAB is off. As soon as operating voltage is supplied to the SRSCM ignition input, the SRSCM activates the warning lamp for the check. The PODS will send the SRSCM an undetermined status as the default setting for passenger airbag deployment during the check period. After ignition is turned on, the warning lamp illuminates for 4 seconds and turns off for 3 seconds during the initialization phase and will be off after that until a valid permission message is received from the PODS system.
