Lane Following Assist On/Off

With the ignition ON, press the Lane Following Assist button on the steering wheel to turn Lane Following Assist on. The indicator light on the instrument cluster illuminates white or green.indicator light on the instrument cluster illuminates.

Press the button again to turn off the feature.

Information

You can change the warning volume setting or select Driving Safety Priority for the Lane Following Assist system from the Settings menu. For more information, see "Driver Assistance System Settings" in this chapter.

Lane Following Assist

If both lane markings and/or a vehicle ahead are detected, and your vehicle speed is below 180 km/h, the Lane Following Assist system helps to keep your vehicle in its lane by assisting with steering. The greenindicator illuminates on the instrument cluster.

CAUTION

When the steering wheel is hands-off, the green indicator flashes and changes to white.

If you take your hands off the steering wheel for several seconds, a "Hands on Steering Wheel" warning message may appear on the instrument cluster display, and a warning chime will sound in sequential stages.

First stage: Warning message

Second stage: Warning message (red steering wheel) and warning sound

If you do not have your hands on the steering wheel after the hands-off warning, a "Lane Following Assist (LFA) Canceled" warning message may appear, and the Lane Following Assist system will be automatically canceled.

WARNING

Always drive safely and keep your vehicle in its lane.

To avoid serious injury or death:

  • Always keep your hands on the steering wheel while driving.
  • The Lane Following Assist system may not steer the vehicle if you grip the steering wheel too firmly, or if the steering wheel is turned too far to the left or right.
  • If you hold the steering wheel very loosely, a hands-off warning message may appear because the Lane Following Assist system may not detect that you have your hands on the steering wheel.
  • The hands-off warning message may appear late or not at all depending on road conditions.
  • If you attach objects to the steering wheel, the hands-off warning may not function properly.
